We've been working hard behind the scenes to level up, and we're excited to share our latest updates with you.
New Project: Educational Animal Game
We're collaborating with a great company in Australia (Virtulane) to develop an educational animal game that's fun for all age groups. It's no secret that we love animals at Playtheos – our first games seem to be following a pattern! We're currently working hard to bring this project to life, and we're expecting to reach the Alpha phase soon. We'll be sure to share our progress, offer a sneak peek, and gather feedback from our community.
Feline Frenzy: Not Forgotten
Don't worry, Boss Cat won't go quietly into the night! While our new project has taken centre stage, we're still committed to finishing Feline Frenzy. We're currently hiring a student contractor to help us bring the game to completion. This is a great opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain experience, build their portfolio, and connect with industry mentors.
Alberta Innovates: A Learning Experience
We were accepted into the Alberta Innovates program, which provided us with a technology development advisor. At first, we were excited about the opportunity, but it quickly became apparent that we weren't the best fit. In our initial meeting, our advisor admitted to not reviewing our company or even looking at our slide deck. That was a clear sign that things weren't going to work out as we'd hoped. While the experience didn't meet our expectations, we're not deterred. Instead, we're using it as a valuable learning opportunity to refine our approach and find the right partners for our unique needs.
Research Papers Over the summer months, we'll be working on a research paper that we hope to publish in the Fall/Winter. We're excited to share our findings and contribute to the conversation on gamification in education. As Sid Meier would say, "A game is a series of interesting decisions." We're making interesting decisions every day, and we're excited to see where they take us.
What's Next? We're excited about the road ahead, and we're grateful for the support of our community. Will Wright said it best, "Games are a sandbox for creativity." We're playing in that sandbox, and we're having a blast.
Stay tuned for more updates on our game development journey, and thank you for supporting us along the way!
