I’m beyond excited to announce that I’ve been selected to join the Accelerator Program, diving into an incredible pilot course focused on the gaming industry. For me, this is more than just a professional milestone—it’s deeply personal. As a lifelong gamer, I’ve always dreamed of creating something unique and impactful in the gaming world. Now, PlayTheos, the game development company I co-founded, has the chance to do just that.
I’ve loved gaming for as long as I can remember, from board games and Magic: The Gathering, to console games like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and classics like Ocarina of Time and GoldenEye. These games, with their immersive worlds and engaging mechanics, shaped my idea of what makes a great game. They taught me that creating a user-friendly, fun, and engaging experience is essential, and it’s something I’m incredibly passionate about bringing to PlayTheos.
But what inspired PlayTheos was noticing a gap in the gaming market—there aren’t any fun, engaging games designed around administrative tasks. Why can’t Veterinary Office Assistants (VOA), Administrative Assistants, or Medical Office Assistants (MOA) enjoy a game that helps them hone their skills while having fun? Too often, educational games feel like a chore, and Dan (my business partner) and I are determined to change that.
Our goal is to build a game that combines learning with genuine entertainment, one that breaks the mold of traditional educational platforms.
After years of lending my expertise to help other companies build games that they profit from, I finally thought, "Why not create something for myself?" Now, with PlayTheos, we’re ready to create a game that doesn’t just fill a gap but changes the way people see educational gaming.
As Jane McGonigal, one of my favorite game designers, says,"Games are an extraordinary way to tap into people's natural abilities to learn, collaborate, and innovate, making learning a joyous experience rather than a forced task." (McGonigal, 2011)
This quote perfectly sums up what we’re aiming for with PlayTheos. I’m looking forward to this journey and can’t wait to share more updates as we bring our vision to life. Stay tuned for exciting things to come!
